Famine 30 In the Black Rain

On the same day of Oasis Birthday, 19 April, when all of my Oasis Family members were enjoying the dinner, in an indoor party room, at the same time, I was starving in a very meaningful Famine 30 event, and you may knew that, there was a typhoon and black rain on that day.

The event started at 2pm, However, the crazy rain even freezed all the indoor and outdoor programme, more than 3,000 participants were getting wet even on the cover grandstand, and I was the lucky group of participants who could move to the indoor sports center.

The rain kept heavy until 9pm. Finally, MC announced we had to back home, starved for ourselves and waited for the arrangement of Day 2 event.

Luckily, The Typhoon and rain was clear, we all see sunshine, the programme was continued and I backed to the venue again until the end of 30 hours.

Our power is limited, even we have a good planning, and something still cannot be controlled, just like the weather. Every year, Famine 30 keep on reminding me we should treasure what you have e.g. your health and the peace of living HK, and share what you have to the people who need help, e.g. share your advices/ experience or sometimes gives donation.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks for the Sponsorship from my Oasis Friends to me and WoldVision. If you want to join this meaningful event next year will me, please let me know.

Cheers,

Steve

Happy Birthday to Oasis 6 years

Dear all,

With your excellent jobs from each of you, the Speakathon and Dinner yesterday was undoubtedly a great success. We heard the guests' appreciation and support to the event on the day with Typhoon Signal No.3, we felt the audience's hot response in the Speakathon and during the dinner's programs, and we saw the happy face on each of them when leaving the venue at the end of the day.

Really really thanks so much for your commitment and creativity. I felt proud of being one of the members in this team; if it was without anyone of you, the event would not have been as great and enjoyable as that yesterday. When seeing the photos shared by Tony, Teresa and Sally, I personally think that the Speakathon-cum-Dinner is the most unforgettable and wonderful event of Oasis in this year 2007-08.

Looking forward to another day working with you all again.

Cheers,
Simon

It is so exciting, from our new family member June

Dear Oasians,

Last Monday I made the first speech in Oasis, and this was also the first English speech in my life. It is a very memorable moment.

When I was introduced to stand in the front, I was very scared. My hands were shaking. But soon, when I started the speech, the audience's attentive eyes made me calm down. The speech in my mind suddenly disappeared. I felt myself just like sharing with the audience, but not trying to recall the words and sentences from the prepared speech. The feeling is very different from that when I was praticing by myself. May be that is " live show is different from rehearsal'.

When I finished the speech, many of you grasped my hands. That's so warm and encouraging. Thanks to all of you.

Anne Au is getting marry!!

Oasis always has good news. After Nadine Wong, Alex Chea, Now is our graceful Anne Au, Let's wish her and her beloved one have a new and happy charpter of their life.

Dear all,

I'm glad to tell you that I'm getting married this year. :D Some of you may already know about it from my facebook :P

I would have wedding banquet on 24 November, 2007. I really wanna to invite all of you to come however I'm sorry that I am not able to do so, as there's limited seat in the chinese restaurant and I got loads of relatives. :(

I do wanna to share my happiness with you all. So I would like to give you the "cake card" in the regular meeting on 12 November.

If you're not able to attend the meeting on that date, please reply me with your postal address so I can send it to you by mail. Please inform me in advance hence I could send the card to you before my wedding day. It's because in my family tradition the card must be given out before my wedding day.

Thanks a lot for your advance notice. And for people who would attend the regular meeting, see you soon then.

Regards, Anne

P.S. It's really busy in these months but I would try my best to come to the meeting more often after my marriage and honeymoon. :)

Great Thanks to Oasians, from Katy

Dear Oasians,

It was such a blessed journey to have participated in this humorous speech contest. Thanks so much for your support, encouragements and faith in me!

Though i only came second in the area contest, but the whole contest experience has given me a big leap in my presentation skills. I've come to my senses that, being a good speaker= keeping up with your fitness, positive attitude, perseverance, persistance and determination. Wow...just so wonderful!

Most importantly, million thnx to my mentor Teresa who has given me unlimited support and 2 hairy crabs. Also, thnx to Pan, Dickson, Ivy and Alex for offering me valuable advices. My performance was indeed a collaborative work of all of you!

Quoted from my favorite movie- Dead Poets Society, i hope that everyone of us can 'Seize the Day in Oasis and Make your Life Extraordinary'! Oasis is indeed a philosopher's stone for you to uncover your potential!

Cheers,

Katy
